millions of milas

In Mia and Lou's language, "milas" are crawly creatures which I myself am happy to observe without touching, but which my kids have recently developed a fondness for catching with their hands. Spiders, beetles, water skeeters, cicadas, inch worms... I love this new curiosity, but have been a little taken aback by some of the spiders Mia has captured lately, or when Lou came up to us with a gnawed-on beetle carcass, explaining how she had saved it from the ants who were devouring it.
Needless to say, we are living more out-of-doors than in these days. We hit the road this weekend for a music festival, it was folksy and very mellow at a great shady spot along a river. Lots of families, lots of nice kids for the girls to play with. Bottom picture: Gilles doing his dialysis "à la woodsman".
